How do I convert a Word document to PDF online?
Upload the DOCX, DOC, ODT or RTF file to Sealique: it is converted to PDF on the server with the layout kept, ready for a digital signature.
A contract drafted in Word, a memo written in LibreOffice, an old .doc attachment: before it can be signed or shared it needs to be a PDF that looks the same on every device. The tool converts the file on the server and stores the PDF in your library, so the next step (sign it, send it, merge it with annexes) happens without another upload.

Key facts
- Word to PDF on Sealique accepts DOCX, DOC, ODT and RTF files and is included with an account, with no watermark and no task cap.
- The conversion runs on Sealique servers with LibreOffice, so headings, tables, images and page breaks keep their layout.
- The PDF is saved in your private library as a new document, linked to nothing else and ready to edit, merge or sign.
- Files of up to 50 MB are accepted; large files are converted in the background while the page waits for the result.
- A converted PDF can receive a PAdES digital signature with a verification ID and a QR code on the same site.
What happens to the layout when Word becomes PDF?
The file is opened by LibreOffice in a headless session on Sealique servers and printed to PDF. Paragraph styles, numbered lists, tables, headers and footers, images and page breaks are rendered as the editor shows them. Fonts that exist on the server are embedded; others are replaced by fonts with the same metrics so the text keeps its position.
Comments and tracked changes are not printed: accept or reject them in Word first if they should appear. Hyperlinks stay clickable in the PDF.
When should I convert to PDF before signing?
Always. A PAdES digital signature seals the exact bytes of a PDF, so the document has to be final and in PDF form before it is signed. Converting first, then editing the PDF if needed, then signing, gives a sealed file anyone can verify online by its verification ID or QR code.

Questions people ask
Does the PDF look like the Word document?
Yes. The conversion uses LibreOffice on the server, which keeps headings, tables, images, margins and page breaks; unusual fonts are replaced by close equivalents.
If the document relies on a font that is not installed on the server, a metric-compatible font is substituted, which can move a line or two. Check the first pages after conversion.
Does converting Word to PDF cost anything?
No. It is included with a Sealique account; there is no card, no watermark, no page limit per day and no trial clock.
Signing in is needed because the PDF is stored in your private library, where it can be signed or merged afterwards.
Which Word formats are accepted?
DOCX, DOC, ODT and RTF, up to 50 MB. Spreadsheets and presentations have their own tools (Excel to PDF, PowerPoint to PDF).
The file is checked by extension and content before it is converted; a renamed file of another type is refused.
Where is my document stored?
The uploaded file is processed on Sealique servers and the resulting PDF is kept in your private library; nobody else can open it unless you share it.
Only the PDF is stored as a document; the original Word file is not kept after conversion.
Can I sign the PDF right after converting it?
Yes. Open the PDF from your library and use Quick Sign or Documents to add a PAdES digital signature with a verification ID and QR code.
Signers invited by e-mail never need an account.
Why does the page say a server component is missing?
The conversion needs LibreOffice on the server; when it is not installed the page says so instead of failing, and the administrator can add it.
Everything else on Sealique keeps working; picture tools run in your browser and do not depend on it.
