How do I convert a PDF to an editable Word document online?
Upload the PDF to Sealique: the pages are rebuilt on the server as an editable DOCX with flowing paragraphs, headings, real tables and pictures, then download it in your browser.
A contract that needs a new clause, a report to reuse, a form someone sent as PDF: the tool turns it back into a Word file you can edit. Because PDF stores positioned text rather than paragraphs, the result is faithful for documents that came from a word processor and rougher for designed layouts.

Key facts
- PDF to Word on Sealique produces a DOCX file from any PDF of up to 50 MB and is included with an account, with no card and no daily limit.
- The text is rebuilt into paragraphs and headings, tables become real Word tables with their colours, pictures are placed where they were, and fonts, bold, italics and text colours are kept; an Exact layout option uses the LibreOffice import instead.
- A scanned PDF has no text to convert: run OCR PDF first so the words become real text.
- The DOCX is kept with the job in your account for download; it is not a document in the signing library.
- Sealed PDFs convert too, but the Word file carries no signature: the sealed PDF stays the verifiable original.
How does a PDF become a Word document?
A PDF describes where each glyph and image sits on the page, not paragraphs or styles. On Sealique servers the characters are grouped into words, lines and paragraphs, larger lines become headings, ruled or aligned tables become Word tables with their cell colours, pictures are rendered from the page, and the fonts, bold, italics and colours of the text are kept. The Exact layout option hands the PDF to LibreOffice instead, which keeps each line in a frame where it was printed.
What about signed PDFs?
A sealed PDF can be converted for reuse, but the Word file is a new, unsigned document. The PAdES digital signature, the verification ID and the QR code belong to the sealed PDF, which remains the copy anyone can verify online.

Questions people ask
Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
Close, not identical. Editable text keeps paragraphs, headings, tables, pictures, fonts and colours as flowing text; Exact layout keeps every line in a positioned frame.
Documents born in a word processor convert well; multi-column brochures may need their paragraph order tidied. Tables are recovered from ruling lines or from aligned columns of text.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
Not directly: a scan is a picture. Run OCR PDF first (English, French, German or Swahili) and convert the searchable result.
Is the converted file stored?
The DOCX is kept with the job in your account so you can download it again; delete the job to remove it.
The source PDF stays in your library if it came from there.
Does it cost anything?
No. It is included with a Sealique account: no card, no watermark, no daily limit.
Why does the page say a server component is missing?
Only the Exact layout option needs LibreOffice; Editable text works on its own. When LibreOffice is absent the option is greyed out and the administrator can install it.
